The original kitchen was a dark 10x10 room, with minimal
counter and cabinet storage. The owner requested a kitchen
that was functional and that the family could enjoy spending
time in. They also wanted the kitchen to be a comfortable
gathering space for entertaining guests.
The solution was to expand the existing space out
6' - 6' and open the south wall with windows for additional
light and a view of the yard. We also created a small entrance
foyer with a closet for much needed coat storage.
The end results created a light filled room with semi-custom
cabinetry and granite counter tops. A compact food preparation
area with new built in appliances now makes cooking a joy.
The large island with additional seating makes for a natural
bar area when entertaining. There is also a large pantry
cabinet for storage. A large window with a window seat was
added so the homeowner can now enjoy the view while dining
at the table. New Pergo laminate flooring has given the
room a warm finished look.
Details to various lighting options include recessed
lighting with dimmer switches, under cabinet lighting, and
the additions of several pendent light fixtures add to the
over all design. The homeowners are delighted with their
new kitchen.
